The story is about a lost marble that falls from the pocket of a boy who has many. The marble lands softly in some vegetation and hopes that the boy will come back and find him. As the sun begins to set he realises that he has not been missed and that he will have to find his own way home. He is found by some ants on their way to their nest and they decide that the marble will make a nice present for their queen. The marble is not very happy about this and luckily they decide to come back tomorrow as they are already carrying many things back to the nest. Before leaving they free the marble from the mud in which he has become stuck. It is dark now and therefore the marble decides to wait until sunrise before he attempts to go home. In the darkness he is bumped into by a short-sighted mouse who gives him directions to find his way home but the marble isn’t so sure when he hears the mouse bumping into other things. Later, he is licked by a dog that discovers him and he corrects the directions given by the mouse. At daybreak the adventure of getting home begins.

The suggested age range is 2-5 years. For younger readers the books are meant to have a parent, family member or guardian read to them.
