We have been very lucky this year to visit Paris just for one night while on our way to Switzerland. The Eurostar train wins hands down over trying to fly from London. We left London at 1:30 on Friday the 22nd and arrived about two and a quarter hours later. We then took the metro to our usual hotel in St. Germain, Hotel de Nesle withits quirky rooms and wonderful staff. The lady who runs it is past retiring age so make sure you visit before she goes because it might not be the same afterwards if it exists at all.
We were given room number 5 this time as the hotel was not busy. Many of the items that decorate the rooms are from the days of when the lady owner was younger and went travelling herself. After dropping off our bags we headed out to Les Halles for some last minute Christmas shopping and from there to a restaurant for a quick bite to eat before going to see Veronique Sanson at the Olympia. It was an amazing performance from this sixty eight year old singer who had started her series of shows on the 15th of December and was due to finish on the 23rd.
